Rave Reviews for Churchill Academy & Sixth Form Christmas Concert

On Tuesday 26 November, Churchill Academy & Sixth Form held its annual Christmas Concert at The Playhouse in Weston-super-Mare. The students brought energy, humour and their high level of musicianship for all to share and kick-start the Christmas preparations, and the show was a resounding success, wowing the packed audience.

The Big Orchestra, Concert Band, Brass Group, String Group, Woodwind Group, Soul Band, Guitar Group, and our KS3 and Senior Choirs delighted the audience with some classic film scores, rock and pop songs, show tunes and Christmas melodies, before they were treated to a sneak preview of the forthcoming junior production of We Will Rock You, directed by our Sixth Form performing arts students.

This year’s Junior Young Musician winner and runner-up, Joey and Senuli (Year 8) also showed off their musical prowess, performing solos for the Playhouse audience.

The show ended with Churchill’s Junior Choir, consisting of around 200 Year 7 and 8 students. They told the Christmas story through songs which they had composed themselves, and brought the house down with their synchronised dance moves and wonderful voices.

We would like to thank the audience for their support. The Academy firmly believes that events like these have the power to bring our community together and inspire a love for music and performing arts.
