Initial Teacher Training (ITT): Lighthouse Learning Partnership
Welcome to Lighthouse Learning Partnership (LLP) and our Lead Partner Programme into initial teacher training (ITT). We work in partnership with two accredited Higher Educational Institute (HEI) providers, University of Bristol and Plymouth Marjon University to offer a school-based approach to teacher training. The linked university is determined by the chosen subject. Our model blends the best of school-based teacher training with high quality training support from either of these universities.
The Lighthouse Learning Partnership is part of the LSP working with our 4 secondary schools in the Trust and further afield with other secondary schools in the surrounding area of North Somerset and beyond across the Mendip Hills. We currently have 7 secondary schools in the Lighthouse Learning Partnership – Backwell School, Chew Valley School, Chilton Trinity (Bridgwater), Churchill Academy, Clevedon School, Gordano School (Portishead) and The Blue School (Wells).
Students accepted on this course benefit from being awarded PGCE and QTS at the end of the training year, with the possibility of being employed in one of our partner schools the following year. One of the benefits of our programme is the immediate immersion in school life from the start of the academic year. Trainees are able to participate as active members of the community from the off. Working from September to July allows trainees to build lasting relationships with students and colleagues in a school which is confirmed from outset.
