High Down Junior School celebrates retaining ‘Good’ Ofsted rating
Following an Ofsted inspection in November 2024, High Down Junior School has successfully retained its ‘Good’ rating. As the report states, the school has ‘taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection.’
The inspectors commented that “Pupils are happy and enjoy their learning” at High Down Junior School and “the excellent pastoral support team assists anyone who is having a tricky time”. They also commented on the school’s “ambitious curriculum” where the staff “continued to consider how pupils can learn even more”. Further evidence of this is shown in the Key Stage 2 outcomes in national curriculum tests, which were “significantly higher than the national average”.
Andreya Cowan, Executive Headteacher at High Down Schools, which includes High Junior School and High Down Infant School, said “The recent inspection at High Down Juniors is testament to our hard-working and dedicated team. We are so pleased to be able to say we have maintained our ‘Good’ grading, and I’m really grateful to all the staff in the school who provide such an enriching education for all our children”.
Following the publication of Ofsted’s report, Dr Gary Lewis, Chief Executive of Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP), said “High Down Junior’s retained ‘Good’ judgement is well deserved; the School is a welcoming and purposeful place to learn. Both the school, and the Trust, remains focused on providing a high-quality education and fostering an environment where every student can flourish. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this ongoing success.”
