St Peter’s CE Primary School rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted
Following a graded Ofsted inspection in February, St Peter’s CE Primary School has been judged to be an ‘outstanding’ school in all areas. Inspectors noted that, “Pupils display exemplary attitudes towards their learning,” and that, “Pupils learn exceptionally well across the curriculum.” They also particularly praised the school’s teaching of reading and were impressed that, “Staff and pupils share a love of reading.”
Headteacher Catrin Battista commented, “This is a testimony to the hard work of the whole St Peter’s team and an unrelenting approach to developing a broad and engaging curriculum underpinned by our vision and culture of excellence. Our wonderful staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that we bring our vision to life and enable every pupil to flourish. I would like to thank our staff, governors, families, the Lighthouse Schools Partnership and, above all, the children who play such an integral role in creating such a special school community. I was especially proud that Ofsted noted that ‘Pupils thrive at this highly inclusive and welcoming school. They fully understand what it means to be a ‘St Peter’s Citizen’. Pupils say that this helps them feel part of a community where everyone gives their best and sets a positive example to others.’
Ben Hughes, Chair of Governors commented, “I would like to congratulate Catrin, her senior leadership team, the staff and all the pupils at St Peters Primary. Achieving such a great outcome has been the result of a vast amount of work and effort by all parties. The recognition provided by Ofsted is richly deserved."
