West 100 - Developing Future School Leaders
Lighthouse Schools Partnership are delighted to be one of the founding members of West100.
We will be working closely with the Reach Foundation to identify and support 100 potential headteachers from the South West region over the next five years.
The groundbreaking programme will include coaching, research and visits to inspirational schools with a belief that, with expert leaders in our schools, we can eradicate the disadvantaged gap in our region (which is the largest in England).
Places on West100 are extremely competitive and we are pleased that four participants from LSP schools were successful in the 2023-24 selection process. This is a great testament to the quality of leaders in our schools and their commitment to developing their leadership skills and improving the outcomes for our most vulnerable pupils. The LSP participants are:
Clara Mason – Backwell Secondary School: "I'm delighted to be able to participate in this amazing opportunity and to work with a range of other leaders. I'm particularly looking forward to visiting other schools both locally and in different areas of the UK to get a deeper understanding of what schools can do to improve outcomes and opportunities for disadvantaged students in our region".
Holly Cafai – Whitchurch Primary School: "Thank you to LSP for providing me with the opportunity to join the West100 programme. I am excited to start, meet new people and visit different schools across the UK that are providing children with amazing opportunities in deprived areas. I am sure that the programme will enhance our practice and the provision we provide for the children at our school."
Corrine Clarke – Wrington Primary School: "I feel very privileged to be part of the first West100 cohort. The selection day was rigorous and a little daunting but I met some amazing people and learnt a lot about myself in the process. West100 will be a fantastic opportunity to visit other schools and to learn from outstanding leaders from across the country. I am looking forward to getting to know other local LSP colleagues as well as networking with other participants on the programme."
Kerry Burnell – Blagdon Primary School: "The interview was the most challenging process I have done in my career to date although it was also the most incredible experience where I learnt more than I ever thought I would. I am looking forward to spending the next year learning and collaborating with like-minded colleagues from across our region, who are as passionate about our disadvantaged pupils as I am."
We wish them all the best of luck.
Applications for West100 for 2024-25 will open later this year.
