Our Schools

The Lighthouse School Partnership is made up of 26 primary schools and four secondary schools across North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset. 

The Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP) was founded in 2016. Working together in partnership is an opportunity that we relish. We believe that by working together we can deliver more fully the aims to which we were committed as individual schools. Central to this is a desire to invest in the training and excellence of our staff.

    Backwell School has established over many years a reputation as one of Britain's best performing comprehensive schools. A 'can-do culture' permeates the school and is evident both in terms of academic excellence and a commitment to the value of the wider school experiences that are offered here.

    We are a growing village primary school and are half way through our transition from a half-class entry to a one-class entry school. We currently have 6 classes which will increase to 7 in September 2020. As we grow we are keen to maintain our caring family atmosphere and our ‘Outstanding’ standards (Ofsted and SIAMS 2015). At Flax everyone knows everyone else and children are encouraged to develop good relationship skills, becoming confident with all age groups. Our school motto is ‘Aiming High, Respecting Others, Having Fun’ and this permeates everything we do!

    Northleaze C of E Primary School prides itself on its strong sense of community. Children, school staff, parents, governors and stakeholders work in partnership to create a vibrant and purposeful school where children develop skills and knowledge across the curriculum. The school's strong Christian ethos underpins the positive relationships between all members of our school community. Every child is valued as an individual and the school is very inclusive.

    Hannah More Infants and Grove Juniors, Nailsea work in close partnership with each other and all that we do is underpinned by our shared vision, “Growing and learning together. Aspiring to excellence.” Our pupils are happy, enthusiastic and confident learners. We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for our children and believe every child has the right and the ability to achieve their very best in all areas.

    We are a Federation of two schools with a shared vision and focus on offering the very best education to our children.     Yatton Infant School and Yatton Church of England Junior School share a campus that is situated in the heart of Yatton. Most pupils come from Yatton; others travel from nearby hamlets and villages. The schools share both its leadership and a Governing Body whilst respecting and celebrating the individual ethos of each school. The Junior School is a Church of England School and has its own distinctive Christian character. The Diocese also has two governors on the Board of Governors.

    Bishop Sutton is a thriving village school, with a strong sense of community.     We are a small rural school in the beautiful village of Blagdon and on the edge of the Mendip Hills. We have around a hundred and ten children organised over four mixed-age classes. Our size helps to give our school the warm, friendly, family-feel that our families value. We know our children extremely well and treat them with respect, as unique individuals and provide our children with a caring and nurturing environment. The school motto of ‘Explore, Excite, Excel’ makes clear our commitment to developing every individual to be their very best within an exciting and engaging curriculum that fits our rural community.

    Chew Valley School is a high performing comprehensive school founded on a commitment to enable all of our students to learn, grow and achieve. Our school is about developing the 'whole student', ready to play a confident role in the world.     We are a small rural primary school with a warm family atmosphere, where every child is cared for and feels that they are known and valued for the unique person that they are. We place children at the heart of everything that we do, and we uphold an ethos that is based on Christian principles and values. Children, staff, governors and parents share an enormous pride in our school, where every opportunity is offered to inspire children to learn without limits both inside and outside of the classroom.

    As a very small village school, Stanton Drew has a unique and very special feel. Everyone knows and looks out for each other and it feels like a big extended family. Parents and other family members play a big part in the life of the school and communication and contact between you and the school is frequent and informal. The maximum number of children we could have is 10 per year group, but currently many of the year groups are smaller than this, resulting in smaller class sizes.

    St. Mary's CEVA Primary School is a small village primary school serving the local community of Portbury and the surrounding villages. We also have children on roll who travel from Portishead, Pill and across the Avon Bridge from Bristol. Our school is a dynamic, welcoming, thriving and aspirational learning community.

    Golden Valley is a large primary school in Nailsea with around 420 pupils arranged in 14 classes. There is a purposeful, calm atmosphere in the school where children are expected to work hard, learn new skills and knowledge and behave well. The children are supported by a hard-working and experienced team of teachers, teaching and learning assistants and other members of the support team. The whole staff share a responsibility of raising standards and keeping self-esteem high, but also in making life at school exciting, fun and enjoyable - we all know that happy children make the best learners!
