Welcome
The last term has in so many ways been the most demanding yet. I had the privilege of spending quite a lot of time with colleagues at St Mary’s in Portbury. Fortunately St Mary’s hasn’t been hit too hard by COVID (in the way that other schools in our Trust really have), but even in a few weeks at St Mary’s we had several staff cases. The staff at the school were brilliant at keeping life as normal as possible for the pupils; the Nativity went ahead, the Christmas service in church is planned, carols have been switched outside to the playground and the Christmas Fair was replaced with a trail through the village.
This newsletter is full of examples of the things that you have been doing in our schools to make education both normal and wonderful for our pupils. I hope that you feel pride in the work that you have done and will be interested to see what others have been doing in their schools too. You are doing the most amazing job.
With best wishes,
Gary
